Job summary

DroneShield Group Pty Ltd in Sydney is seeking a software engineer to advance computer vision capabilities, integrating cameras and algorithms to build next-gen AI-powered detection, identification and tracking systems.

You will collaborate with system engineers, ML engineers and product teams to ensure your solutions are performant, reliable and ready for real-world defence applications, with mission-critical impact on global security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in C++ development with multi-threading and profiling.
• Python required; Golang is a plus.
• Experience with OpenCV or AI model integration (ONNX/TensorRT).
• Experience integrating cameras or sensors (LiDAR, thermal).
• Edge computing/embedded real-time applications (NVIDIA GPUs, CUDA).
• Version control (Git) and CI tooling (GitLab CI).
• Strong problem solving and cross-team communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, benchmark, and optimise computer vision algorithms for detection, classification, and tracking.
• Develop software interfaces to integrate new camera models and configurations.
• Collaborate with system, ML, and product teams to define technical requirements.
