Job summary

Chosen Family in Summer Hill, NSW is seeking a Female Disability Support Worker for a 3‑hour Thursday shift to support a 36‑year‑old female participant with community access and social participation. The role focuses on conversation, engagement, and fostering independence in daily activities.

Ideal candidates will have WWCC, NDIS checks, First Aid, and a valid driver’s licence, with experience in psychosocial disability and mental health support.

Qualifications

• WWCC and NDIS checks are mandatory.
• First Aid Certificate required.
• Valid Driver’s Licence and a reliable vehicle.
• Experience with psychosocial disability and mental health support preferred.
• Confidence in supporting someone with schizophrenia and delusions is essential.

Responsibilities

• Support the participant in leading an active lifestyle and engaging in community activities of her choice.
• Provide active conversation and companionship to encourage positive social interactions.
• Encourage independence, health, wellbeing and confidence in the community.
• Utilise trauma‑informed, person‑centred approaches to provide effective support.
• Maintain accurate progress notes and thorough record‑keeping.
• Demonstrate calm, professional communication during complex interactions or delusions.
• Build a strong, respectful relationship while honoring boundaries and preferences.
• Assist with community access while ensuring dignity and independence.
