Job summary

Murrumbidgee Local Health District in Canberra ACT seeks an Assistant in Nursing to support Registered and Enrolled Nurses in delivering compassionate, person-centred care across acute and aged care settings.

You will assist patients with daily activities, help prepare rooms and equipment, and document care events under RN supervision, contributing to a high-standard healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Acute Care) or one year of undergraduate nursing/midwifery completed.
• A caring, compassionate and patient-focused approach to healthcare.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families and colleagues.
• Ability to work both independently under an RN and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to accurate clinical documentation and safe, high-quality care.
• Capable of adapting to a fast-paced healthcare environment with professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (toileting, bathing, mobility and personal care).
• Support nursing by preparing rooms, gathering equipment and aiding with patient transfers.
• Provide allocated nursing care activities under supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Document patient care, observations and responses in clinical records.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, compassionate care.

Education
