Job summary

Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS) is expanding across Greater Sydney, seeking reliable Community Support Workers to assist participants living with mental health challenges, including dementia and dual diagnosis. Casual shifts available at Bradbury, Penrith, and Chipping Norton with varied days and times.

Female-only shifts at some locations and male/female at others apply. Must have experience in AOD, mental health, brain injury, and personal care, plus necessary checks and a valid driver’s

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience in mental health, disability support, or community services.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working With Children Check (NSW), First Aid & CPR, Police Check
• Unrestricted work rights in Australia
• Preferred: Certificate III/IV in Community Services, Mental Health, or related field

Responsibilities

• Experience supporting people with complex needs, ABI, dementia, and/or mental health
• Supervision and prompting of medication administration
• Strong emotional regulation and calm communication style
• Use validation, reassurance, and redirection during distress
• Respect choice and control, including refusal of support
• Follow Behaviour Support Plans and safety protocols
• Personal care and manual handling when necessary
• Assistance with hygiene, cleaning, and bedding
• Maintain accurate, objective documentation

Job description

Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS) is growing across Greater Sydney. We're looking for reliable Community Support Workers who can support participants living with mental health challenges — including complex behaviours, dementia and dual diagnosis (drug & alcohol).

Casual shifts available:

(Female workers ONLY)

Location: Bradbury

Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 10am - 2pm

Requires experience in: AOD support, mental health, brain injury, and personal care.

(Female workers ONLY)

Location: Penrith

Thursday: 10am - 3pm

Requires experience in mental health

(Female or Male workers)

Location: Chipping Norton

Monday and Wednesday: 11am - 1pm

Requires experience with dementia

Key Responsibilities of this role:

• Experience supporting people with complex needs, ABI, dementia, and/or mental health
• Supervision and prompting of medication administration

What you bring:

• A reliable car with comprehensive insurance (mandatory), full unrestricted Australian driver's licence, and willingness to travel across Sydney
• Proven reliability, professionalism, and excellent communication
• Minimum 6 months experience in mental health, disability support, or community services (or Certificate IV in Mental Health)
• Calm under pressure; strong judgment and boundaries
• Smartphone literacy for rostering and documentation
