Job summary

Mind Australia Limited is seeking a self-motivated Community Mental Health Practitioner for a Part Time, Fixed Term until January 2027 to work in the Melton area Local. The role involves supporting consumers to achieve wellbeing and recovery goals through telehealth, one-to-one support, and group work facilitation.

You’ll bring tertiary qualifications in mental health or related field and demonstrate knowledge of trauma-informed approaches, CBT, and motivational interviewing.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Community Services or other professional field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of theoretical approaches and service responses including family inclusive practice, trauma-informed theory, CBT, motivational interviewing and harm reduction.

Responsibilities

  • Support consumers with recovery planning and daily living skills.
  • Plan and develop group work programs to enhance recovery and community reintegration.
  • Engage families and carers with access to relevant resources and support.
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and participate in meetings and handovers.

About the service


The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local services act as a front door to the mental health service system and provides a continuum of care and support including clinical interventions, wellbeing supports, and therapeutic support through an integrated mental health and alcohol and other drug framework approach.


About the role


We are seeking a self-motivated, empathetic Community Mental Health Practitioner for a Part Time, Fixed Term until January 2027 to work in the Melton area Local. This position will play an integral part in working collaboratively with consumers to achieve their wellbeing and recovery goals through telehealth, one-to-one support, and group work facilitation to enhance recovery, personal growth and activities of daily living.


Key responsibilities



  • Support consumers with actioning their recovery plan in a range of areas including understanding and managing consumer’s own mental health and/or AOD challenges as well as developing daily living skills and capacity for self-care, amongst other duties.

  • Plan and develop group work programs that will assist consumers to build their skills, focus on their recovery and work towards transitioning back to their natural community.

  • Facilitate, as appropriate, the re-engagement and maintenance of family and carer relationships., as well as working with families and carers to provide specialised resources for how to access support for themselves.

  • Work within a multidisciplinary team in supporting recovery-oriented practice and clinician interventions as well as actively participating in team, case and handover meetings.

  • Contribute to a workplace that values lived experience and the inclusion of consumers, carers and families in the work we do.


What you’ll bring



  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Community Services or other professional field as designated by Mind.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of theoretical approaches, practices and appropriate service responses including family inclusive practice, trauma informed theory, cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing and harm reduction therapy.

  • A lived experience of mental ill health and recovery or experience caring for a person with mental ill health is desirable.

  • Experience in assessing need and working collaboratively to plan goal focused recovery using evidence informed approaches and tools.
