Job summary

Central Australian Aboriginal Congress is seeking a skilled Mental Health Nurse for a full-time role based primarily in Alice Springs, with potential travel to remote communities. The position focuses on culturally appropriate care for clients with severe mental illness and coordination of services across clinical and community settings.

The successful applicant will be registered with AHPRA as a RN and ACMHN credentialed, with broad community mental health experience and a strong understanding

Qualifications

• Registered with AHPRA as a RN and ACMHN credentialed.
• Broad clinical experience in community mental health services or appropriate acute mental health care settings.
• Understanding of primary health care principles and social determinants affecting Aboriginal people in Central Australia.
• Strong cross-cultural communication skills with Aboriginal clients and staff.
• Valid Australian driver's licence and ability to drive a large 4WD on unsealed roads.

Responsibilities

• Provide culturally appropriate mental health nursing care.
• Deliver services in clinical, community and client home settings.
• Coordinate care to manage symptoms and reduce hospitalisation or length of stay.
• Travel to remote communities as required.
