Job summary

The City of Salisbury is seeking a Community Experience Representative to join our Community Experience team on a 10-month contract ending 30 June 2027. This full-time role works 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:06pm, based at Salisbury's Community Hub.

As the first point of contact for many enquiries, you will provide professional, responsive service across Council services, helping customers access information and support and contributing to ongoing service improvements.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy and active listening.
  • Ability to remain professional and composed when handling challenging situations.
  • Experience in a customer service, contact centre or service delivery environment.
  • Well-developed computer skills and confidence using multiple systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Understanding of access, equity and inclusive service delivery principles.

Responsibilities

  • Providing exceptional customer service to community members and internal customers.
  • Responding to enquiries via phone, email, face-to-face and other channels.
  • Identifying customer needs and referring enquiries to the appropriate service area.
  • Recording and monitoring customer requests using Council systems.
  • Supporting continuous improvement of customer service processes and standards.
  • Providing accurate information about Council services, programs and facilities.
  • Assisting with the implementation of customer service policies and procedures.
  • Participating as an active member of the Community Experience team.
  • Contributing to customer-focused projects and initiatives.
  • Undertaking other duties as required.

About The Role

We are seeking a customer-focused and solutions-oriented Community Experience Representative to join our Community Experience team on a 10-month contract ending 30 June 2027. This is a full-time role working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 5:06pm.

As the first point of contact for many customer enquiries, you will provide professional, responsive and efficient service across a broad range of Council services. Whether assisting customers in person, over the phone, via email or through other communication channels, you will help deliver positive outcomes and connect customers with the information and support they need.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you will build strong relationships with internal teams and contribute to the ongoing improvement of customer service practices and processes.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
  • Providing exceptional customer service to community members and internal customers.
  • Responding to enquiries and requests via phone, email, face-to-face and other communication channels.
  • Identifying customer needs and referring enquiries to the appropriate service area where required.

About You

You are a confident communicator who enjoys helping people and delivering outstanding customer service. You remain calm under pressure, confidently manage a variety of enquiries and enjoy finding practical solutions for customers.

You have strong interpersonal skills, a positive approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.

You will also have

  • Training or qualifications related to customer service, conflict resolution or handling difficult customers.
