About the role:

Evoenergy’s Secondary Systems & Network Design section is looking for a dynamic and solutions driven Communications Systems Specialist to join the team. You will be responsible for the engineering, configuring, testing, commissioning and maintenance of communications systems used for tele-protection, SCADA and other operational requirements in the Evoenergy electrical network.

Key responsibilities:
  • Design, configure, integrate, and test communications systems for substation automation and tele-protection, distribution automation, and embedded generation projects.
  • Support field staff with installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of communications systems.
  • Develop specifications and manage procurement for communications systems and related devices, including asset augmentation and renewal projects.
  • Contribute to strategy and standards by assisting in defect resolution, engineering processes, and asset-specific planning for communications systems.
  • Other duties within the employee's skill, competence and training.
Our ideal candidate:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of Communications systems, including the following:
  • Industrial control system protocols such as IEC61850, DNP3 and Modbus
  • Cyber security risks and mitigations
  • Communications networks design
  • Integrating control systems
  • The ability to work as part of a collaborative team to deliver solutions and outcomes
