Job summary

Bayside Council is seeking a communications support professional to deliver high-quality photography and speech writing, capturing brand-aligned imagery for council activities. The role supports the communications team across events and content production.

Responsibilities include developing speeches for senior leaders, editing content for multiple channels, and coordinating with departments to gather insights.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Passion for photography and communication with a flair for visual storytelling.
  • Current Drivers Licence Class C.
  • Flexibility to work across varied hours and locations as required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to confidentially handle sensitive issues.

About the role

This role assists with providing and maintaining high quality communications and speech writing support to ensure exposure of key Council activities and programs and effectively convey our messages, values, and objectives to various stakeholders.

Capture compelling and high-quality photographs that align with our brand and communication goals.

This is a casual / flexible role that is required to support the Communications team both within and outside of business hours to facilitate photography at key events and meetings.

You can also expect to:

Develop speeches for the Mayor, Councillors, General Manager, Executives, spokespersons, and other key representatives.

Attend and photograph key events, meetings and consultations.

Create and edit content for various communication channels, including media releases, articles, internal communications and in the production of printed publications and digital assets for the Council website and social pages.

Collaborate with different departments to gather information and insights for content development.

Tailor messaging to suit different audiences and occasions.

Ensure consistency in tone, style, and key messaging across all speeches.

Support the communications team in managing media inquiries and requests.

Conduct research to gather data and insights for speechwriting and communication materials.

Demonstrate sound time management and organisational skills with demonstrated experience in managing competing priorities levels and volumes of work.

Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.

Work in collaboration with and assist the team, office manager and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.

About you

We are looking for a someone who demonstrates:

Tertiary or other qualifications and/or equivalent experience.

Passion for photography and communication, with a flair for visual storytelling

Current Drivers Licence Class C

Flexibility to work across varied hours and various locations as required.

Excellent attention to detail and written communication skills.

Strong customer service skills and ability to confidentially handle sensitive issues.

Salary range: $42.19 to $47.25 + 25% Casual Loading + Superannuation
