Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Communication Systems Engineer in Australia to strengthen engineering management systems, support audit outcomes, and enable delivery of cryptographic capabilities.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to contribute to design, configuration control, and technical assurance across platform systems, including ERP integration. The role requires a degree in engineering, strong governance experience, and the ability to engage stakeholders across Defence and supplier

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified engineer with strong experience in systems engineering and engineering governance frameworks within Defence or complex environments.
  • Experience developing Engineering Management Systems and Plans.
  • Strong background in configuration management, V&V, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with ASDEFCON frameworks and Defence engineering environments.

Responsibilities

  • Implement audit recommendations, ensuring compliant and up-to-date engineering documentation.
  • Develop and standardise key engineering artefacts (e.g. plans, templates, CEMIs, MDI).
  • Modernise core Engineering Management System documentation and frameworks.
  • Support engineering change and configuration management processes, including ERP transition.
  • Contribute to technical investigations, instructions, and verification & validation activities.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews and certification-aligned activities.
  • Develop guidance, training materials, and support knowledge transfer to stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships across Defence, customer, and supplier networks.

The Opportunity

You will play a key role in strengthening engineering management systems, supporting audit outcomes, and enabling the effective delivery of communications and cryptographic capabilities.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll contribute to engineering design, configuration control, and technical assurance across platform systems, while supporting ongoing transformation initiatives including ERP integration.

As The Ideal Candidate You Will Bring
  • Degree-qualified engineer with strong experience in systems engineering and engineering governance frameworks within Defence or complex environments.
  • Proven experience developing Engineering Management Systems and Plans
  • Strong background in configuration management, V&V, and risk management
  • Familiarity with ASDEFCON frameworks and Defence engineering environments
  • Ability to simplify complex engineering concepts into structured documentation
  • Experience with cryptographic systems (desirable)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and mentoring capability
  • Must be Australian Citizen and hold a current NV1 AGSVA security clearance to be eligible.
