Job summary

Vertiv is seeking an experienced field technician to lead startup, commissioning, testing and maintenance of large-scale LV switchboards at client sites, with emphasis on data center projects. You will manage testing, documentation and handover, while coordinating with project teams and customers.

Role requires unrestricted electrical licence, white card and valid driver’s license, with on-site work and occasional travel. Safety, compliance and quality are essential in this critical service role.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted electrical licence is mandatory.
• White card and valid drivers licence are required.
• Experience with LV switchgear testing, commissioning and fault finding.
• Familiar with primary/secondary injection and flash testing.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of site works on LV switchgear panels including commissioning, testing and handover.
• Investigate site issues and perform repairs as needed.
• Complete preventative maintenance for LV switchgear (ACBs/MCCBs).
• Prepare tools, test equipment and site documentation for activities.
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to meet milestones.
• Manage site paperwork and ensure timely submission to client portals.
• Adhere to WHS procedures and safety standards on-site.
• Some remote travel may be required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this position is to carry out all aspects of the startup, commissioning, testing and maintenance of large-scale industrial LV switchboards.

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to carry out all aspects of the startup, commissioning, testing and maintenance of large-scale industrial LV switchboards.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivery of project site works on LV switchgear panels (3200-6200A 415Vac) - Commissioning, testing and handover to customers over multiple industrial projects with main focus on DATACENTERS
• Investigation of site issues/breakdowns with view to carrying out repairs as necessary.
• Completion of preventative maintenance tasks for all aspects of LV switchgear panels. (ACBs-MCCBs)
• Preparation of all tools, test equipment and site documentation for project/maintenance activities.
• Communication and interface with clients, sub-contractors and various internal Vertiv departments to ensure timely progress and meet project/contract milestones.
• Liaise with department internal procurement for any additional material requirements/manufacturing needs to close out defect lists.
• Management of site related paperwork, ensuring documentation is signed off by all relevant parties and uploaded to client portals in a timely manner.
• Responsibility for safe working practices on-site and ensuring all relevant WHS procedures are adhered to.
• Some remote travel may be required.

Practical Experience

• Familiar with all aspects of electrical panel testing & fault finding
• Competency in primary & secondary injection testing
• Competency in flash testing
• Good working knowledge of LV Switchgear and Protection devices
• Good understanding of safe isolation and electrical safety
• Familiar with maintaining accurate and detailed completion of test documentation
• Experience with Client Factory Acceptance Tests / Site Acceptance Tests
• Fully flexible to work additional hours on request
• This is a site-based role and majority of work time will be based on-site or travelling

• Good communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft office suite
