Job summary

Kent in Brisbane, Australia is seeking an Electrical Commissioning and Start Up Technician to deliver high-quality commissioning and troubleshooting for MCCs, VSDs, distribution panels, motors and lighting. You will ensure safety, compliance and collaborative work across project teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of relevant commissioning experience, Cert III in Electrical Craft, EEHA, a current Queensland Electrical Licence, and First Aid.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in commissioning/start-up roles.
• Cert III in Electrical Craft and a current EEHA qualification are required.
• Queensland Electrical Licence (full or restricted) is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with site safety rules and permits.
• Commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of MCCs, VSDs, distribution panels, motors, lighting and small power.
• Inspect, test, adjust and commission equipment to standards.
• Work within OEM guidelines.
• Demonstrate fault-finding skills and autonomous troubleshooting.
• Observe and supervise Vendor staff as required.
• Carry out Cause and Effect Testing.
• Attend system walkdowns.
• Complete rectification works as required.
• Close out Punch items.
• Liaise with other discipline teams to undertake commissioning and start-up activities safely.

Role scope

The Electrical Commissioning and Start Up Technician is responsible to deliver a high quality, consistent and competent service in accordance with project / company requirements, standards and procedures to support overall delivery of company goals and schedule. This role will be under general supervision to perform a variety of commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of various equipmen

Details / responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the site cardinal safety rules and with all safety aspects in the execution of work
• Ensure procedures and permits are followed safely
• Commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of MCC's, VSD’s, Distribution Panels, Motors, Lighting and small power
• Inspect, test, adjust and commission equipment to satisfy appropriate governing standards.
• Work within OEM guidelines.
• Demonstrate high-quality fault-finding skills and the ability to troubleshoot autonomously.
• Observe and supervise Vendor staff working on or near the facilities as required.
• Carry out Cause and Effect Testing
• Attend system walkdowns
• Complete rectification works as required
• Close out Punch items
• Liaise with other discipline teams to undertake commissioning and start-up activities safely.

About You:

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role, along with a Cert III in Electrical Craft and proven expertise. They will hold an EEHA Certification, possess a current First Aid Certificate and LV Rescue, and ideally have nationally accredited training in Working at Heights. A current Full or Restricted Queensland Electrical Licence is also required.
