Job summary

Webuild is recruiting a Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical for the Parklife Metro JV at Badgerys Creek. You will oversee testing and commissioning of mechanical systems (ECS HVAC, hydraulic services, fire systems, TVS, lifts & escalators) ensuring design intent and safety.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 3–5 years of commissioning experience on large-scale projects, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project

Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, and system designs to understand the scope and commissionability of mechanical systems.
• Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and checklists for mechanical systems.
• Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment on T&C activities and timelines.
• Ensure necessary documentation is prepared, including manuals, testing protocols, and schedules.
• Oversee the testing & commissioning (T&C) and verification & validation (V&V) of all mechanical systems, including TAB of ECS HVAC systems, hydraulic services, fire systems, TVS, lifts & escalators.
• Troubleshoot mechanical systems and resolve issues identified during T&C or operation.
• Coordinate witness testing and manage punch lists and non-conformances.
• Act as main point of contact for all T&C matters for mechanical systems.

The Opportunity:

Employed byWebuild, Parklife Metro is seeking a Commissioning Engineer - Mechanicalto join our team based atBadgerys Creek.

As a Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical,you are responsible for overseeing and managing the testing & commissioning (T&C) process of mechanical systems, including Environmental Control Systems (ECS – i.e. HVAC), hydraulic services, fire systems (detection & protection), Tunnel Ventilation Systems (TVS), Lifts & Escalators, other related mechanical installations and interface with other systems (e.g. BMCS).

This role involves ensuring that all mechanical systems are fully functional, meet design specifications, andoperate efficiently in accordance with project requirements. The position requires technical expertise in mechanical systems, as well as strong project management and communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Review project drawings, specifications, and system designs to understand the scope and commissionability of mechanical systems
• Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and checklists for mechanical systems
• Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment on T&C activities and timelines
• Ensure necessary documentation is prepared, including manuals, testing protocols, and schedules
• Oversee the T&C and V&V of all mechanical systems, including testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) of (ECS) HVAC systems, hydraulic services, fire systems, TVS, Lifts & Escalators, and related equipment. Conduct functional tests to ensure systems operate according to design intent, performance criteria, and safety regulations
• Troubleshoot mechanical systems and resolve issuesidentified during T&C or operation
• Coordinate, facilitate and document outcomes of witness testing for mechanical systems
• Raise,track and manage the resolution of T&C related punch list, non-conformance & defect items of mechanical systems
• Act as the main point of contact for allT&C related matters for mechanical systems
• Collaborate with design engineers, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure systems aretested and commissioned in accordance with the project timeline
• Provide regular updates onT&C progress, challenges, and resolutions to the T&C Team and project management teams
• Coordinate T&C activities for mechanical systems with the greater T&C team
• Adjust T&C activities in alignment with T&C priorities as advised by T&C Senior Commissioning Engineers, T&C leads and management
• Support the T&C of interfacing systems (e.g. BMCS, TVCS,etc) in conjunction with other T&C engineers, contractors & vendors
• Maintainaccurate records of T&C activities, including test results, equipment settings, as-built conditions & witnessing activities
• Compile andsubmit final Test Reports detailing system performance, issues resolved, and compliance with project specifications
• Update and resolve review comments received on Test Reports. Ensure that all T&C documentation is complete and handed over to the client or facility management team
• Assist in the preparation and handover of mechanical systems to the client or operational teams upon successful T&C
• Identify opportunities for improving T&C processes and practices

Criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical system commissioning or a related field, with a strong focus on(ECS) HVAC, hydraulic services, and fire systems
• Experience in commissioning for commercial, industrial, or large-scale construction projects is preferred. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design, installation, and operation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with project teams, clients, and contractors
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality assurance
