Job summary

Allstate Canada Group is seeking a Commercial & Privacy Counsel to join its Law & Regulation Department. This role provides proactive legal guidance on commercial, privacy, data and technology matters, reporting to the Manager, Innovation Law.

You will work with senior leaders and various business units across the enterprise. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in commercial/privacy law, experience drafting complex contracts, and knowledge of technology and AI.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of demonstrated commercial, technology and/or privacy law experience.
• Licensed to practice law in Ontario and member of the Ontario Bar in good standing are required.
• French language ability an asset, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Advisory: provide strategic, practical and risk-based legal advice on commercial, privacy/data, emerging technology matters for ACG.
• Research & Analysis: analyze laws and regulations affecting business actions and action plans.
• Commercial contracts & Third Party Risk Management: draft, review and negotiate contracts; improve governance and templates.
• Data Privacy Program design & implementation: advise on privacy initiatives and incident response.
