AusNet seeks an experienced Commercial Manager to lead commercial outcomes across a portfolio of large, complex infrastructure construction projects. Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Infrastructure, Operations & Delivery, you will shape commercial strategy, governance and risk mitigation while partnering with project teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of commercial management experience delivering large-scale, complex, high-risk infrastructure projects.
  • Leadership experience in managing and developing a team; building capability and high performance.
  • Strong track record in negotiation and commercial management of major infrastructure contracts.
  • Excellent written and oral communications; ability to convey complex commercial matters clearly.
  • Advanced influencing skills with pragmatic problem solving and negotiation alternatives.
  • High level commercial acumen with ability to assess risk and implement mitigations.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering outstanding customer service and strong relationships with customers, colleagues, suppliers and peers.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with contractors, suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • Drive commercial governance, controls and compliance across project delivery.
  • Support the transition of projects from construction into operations, including contract close out and handover.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and stronger commercial outcomes across the portfolio.

We have an opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Infrastructure, Operations & Delivery. You will provide commercial leadership and deliver strong commercial outcomes across a designated portfolio of large, complex, high risk infrastructure construction projects.

Working as part of the broader Commercial team, you will lead the commercial management of your projects including commercial strategy, contract performance, contractual governance and the resolution of complex commercial and contractual matters. You will partner closely with project teams, senior leaders and external stakeholders to manage risk, maximise value and support successful project delivery.

Leading a small team, you will also play an important role in developing capability, driving consistency and embedding best-practice commercial management across your project portfolio.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial professional looking to step into a broader leadership position, with exposure to large complex high risk infrastructure projects, senior stakeholder engagement and the opportunity to influence commercial outcomes across a critical portfolio.

What you’ll be doing in this role:

You don’t need to check every box; however, we’re looking for a good combination of:
  • Degree in Law, Accounting, Commerce or related discipline
  • 7- 10 years’ experience in commercial management, including demonstrated accountability for the commercial performance of the delivery of large-scale, complex, high-risk projects.
  • Leadership experience in managing and developing a team, with demonstrated ability to build capability, drive accountability and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong track record in negotiation and commercial management of large-scale infrastructure contracts under a range of complex delivery models
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to communicate complex commercial matters clearly and concisely.
  • Advanced influencing skills with a pragmatic focus on problem solving and developing alternative negotiated solutions.
  • High level of commercial acumen with an ability to clearly assess risk and implement mitigation measures.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering outstanding customer service, and development of strong and positive relationships with customers, colleagues, suppliers and peers.
