Job summary

Cochlear is seeking a 12-month fixed-term Legal Counsel based at our Macquarie University headquarters in Sydney. You will partner with R&D, IP and Clinical teams, drafting and negotiating commercial, research and IP agreements, while supporting product, marketing and regulatory initiatives.

The role offers exposure to strategic business decisions and global collaboration in a hospital-grade medical technology environment.

Qualifications

Qualified to practise law in Australia.
Approximately 8 years' post-qualification experience.
Experience drafting, negotiating and advising on complex research, collaboration or other commercial agreements.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including research, collaboration, IP, services and technology-related agreements.
Support intellectual property, product, marketing and commercial initiatives across multiple business functions.
Assist with disputes and litigation matters, including those involving marketing, intellectual property and product-related issues.
Develop and maintain legal templates, playbooks and knowledge resources to improve consistency and efficiency.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including legal technology adoption and AI-enabled solutions.
