Ambition Group Limited partners with a Global Insurance Leader to recruit a Commercial Business Partner in Sydney CBD with hybrid working. This role balances hands-on FP&A responsibilities with genuine business partnering across Australia and New Zealand.

Reporting to the Head of Business Partnering, you’ll influence senior stakeholders, drive financial insight, and support commercial decision-making during a period of transformation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Finance Business Partner, Commercial Finance or FP&A role.
• Strong financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting capability.
• Proven ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial insights and strategic financial support to senior leaders.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and planning activities across designated business areas.
• Develop financial models and business cases to support key decisions and investments.
• Analyse performance, identify trends and provide actionable recommendations.
• Deliver management reporting and variance analysis to support executive decisions.
• Support process improvement and enhance reporting capability across the business.
• Collaborate with finance and other stakeholders across the organisation.
• Coach junior members of the business partnering team.

Are you a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys balancing hands‑on FP&A responsibilities with genuine business partnering?

We are partnering with a leading global insurer to recruit a Commercial Business Partner who will play a key role in supporting business performance across Australia and New Zealand. This is an opportunity to join a well‑known brand during a significant period of transformation, working closely with senior stakeholders while helping shape the future direction of the finance function.

Reporting to the Head of Business Partnering, this position will act as a trusted advisor to the business and serve as the second-in-command within the team. You'll enjoy broad exposure across the organisation, partnering with leaders to influence decision‑making, drive commercial outcomes and provide valuable financial insight.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with senior business leaders to provide commercial insights and strategic financial support.


• Lead budgeting, forecasting and planning activities across designated business areas.


• Develop financial models and business cases to support key commercial decisions and investment opportunities.


• Analyse business performance, identify trends and provide actionable recommendations.


• Deliver meaningful management reporting and variance analysis to support executive decision‑making.


• Support ongoing process improvement initiatives and help enhance reporting capability across the business.


• Work closely with a range of stakeholders across finance and the broader organisation.


• Provide guidance and coaching to junior members of the business partnering team.

About You

We’re looking for a commercially focused finance professional who combines strong technical capability with excellent stakeholder management skills.

You will ideally bring:

• Experience in a Finance Business Partner, Commercial Finance or FP&A role.


• Strong financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting capability.


• Proven ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders.


• Prior insurance industry experience or a strong understanding of insurance business drivers.


• Advanced analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.


• Experience using TM1.


• Curiosity around emerging technologies and a mindset focused on continuous improvement.


• The ability to thrive in a changing environment and contribute positively through periods of transformation.
