Job summary

Saab Australia is hiring a Senior Technical Officer to lead the sustainment of the 9LV Combat System across RAN platforms, ensuring system performance, readiness and ongoing serviceability. You will coordinate testing, fault-finding and upgrades of sophisticated electronic and electro‑mechanical systems on ships and support facilities, with deployment to remote locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Electronics and Communications Engineering is required.
• Extensive installation, commissioning and maintenance experience.
• Proficiency with Windows, macOS and Linux for setup and troubleshooting.
• Experience in operation, fault finding and repair of electronic systems.
• IPC workmanship standards expertise preferred.
• Proficient with PCs and MS Office applications.
• Strong supervisory, coordinating and planning abilities.
• Working at Heights certification.
• Construction Industry White Card.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate testing, fault-finding, maintenance, upgrades and repairs on electronic, electrical and electro‑mechanical systems across RAN ships and facilities.
• Deliver hardware installation, testing, commissioning and acceptance activities including cabling, fibre optics, network config and system integration.
• Diagnose and resolve OS, application and network issues (LAN/WAN/VPN/Wi‑Fi).
• Perform routine inspections, condition assessments and system performance monitoring to maximise capability and reliability.
• Provide urgent repair support for RAN vessels, including remote deployments and at‑sea operations.
• Deliver closing reports and objective quality evidence (test plans and drawings) for customers.
