Job summary

ALS Coal is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant at the Callide Mine site. You will conduct routine coal sampling and testing, handle sample preparation, and Despatch activities while maintaining safety and quality across plant streams.

Ideal candidates have a can-do attitude, flexibility for extra shifts, and the ability to work alone with PPE. Travel to other mine sites may be required as part of the roster.

Qualifications

• Experience in a laboratory or mining setting is advantageous but not essential.
• Must have a can-do attitude.
• Flexible and able to work extra shifts.
• Strong focus on safety and quality.
• Able to work alone and unsupervised at times.
• Driver's license.
• Able to wear full PPE.
• Good organisation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine coal sampling and testing.
• Perform physical tests (sizing, crushing, dividing samples).
• Assist with coal preparation and despatching samples.
• Carry out day-to-day laboratory duties and sample prep.
• Maintain equipment and follow safety protocols.
• Collaborate with team members across sites as required.
• Travel to other mine sites as part of the shift.
• Manual handling tasks.
