Job summary

Faith Lutheran College, Plainland is seeking enthusiastic and skilled Co-curricular Tutors to join our Arts and Co-curricular team on a casual basis with the ability to teach instruments including guitar, percussion and brass. Tutoring occurs during the school day from 8:30am to 2:30pm, with days negotiated with the successful candidate.

Located in the Lockyer Valley, the campus is currently expanding with a new Junior School in 2027.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in your discipline.
• Demonstrated experience teaching instrumental music to school-aged students.
• Strong knowledge of technique, theory, and repertoire relevant to your field.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate students of varying ages and abilities.
• Current Blue Card (or ability to obtain one).
• Ability to either obtain or provide an Australian Business Number and complete invoicing independently.
• Familiarity with and experience preparing students for relevant examination systems (e.g., AMEB, Trinity, etc.).
• Experience in school or educational settings.
• Ability to teach one or more of the following additional instruments: Flute, Saxophone, Trombone.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality individual or small-group tuition tailored to students’ skill levels and aspirations in their instrumental journey.
• Support students in achieving individualised creative goals, including performances, exams, ensemble participation, or other pursuits.
• Develop engaging lesson plans that promote technical skill, creative expression, and confidence.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate with families and staff.
• Actively contribute to College arts events and co-curricular programs, collaborating with staff to build a vibrant performing arts culture.
