Job summary

Austchrome in Mackay is seeking an experienced Machinist to manufacture and reclaim hydraulic components. You will work with manual and CNC machines, read complex drawings, and ensure parts meet specifications.

The role offers day and afternoon shifts, a sign-on bonus, and ongoing training within a safety-focused, family-oriented team. You will contribute to high-quality work for major mining and industrial operations across Australia.

Qualifications

• Experience in manual turning, CNC lathes and precision machining preferred.
• Attention to detail and ability to read engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes, horizontal and vertical borers, cylindrical grinders.
• Set up CNC lathes and bores with Fanuc controllers and inspect parts.
• Perform in-process quality checks using micrometers and gauges.
• Collaborate with tradespeople across machining, fabrication, and plating.
• Maintain a safe workplace following procedures and policies.

Responsibilities:

As a Machinist at Austchrome, you'll be involved in manufacturing and reclamation of hydraulic components using:

• Manual Lathes, Horizontal and Vertical Bores and Cylindrical grinders.
• CNC Lathes and Horizontal and Vertical Borers running Fanuc controllers.
• Reading and interpreting complex engineering and CAD drawings to produce jobs to specifications.
• Conducting in-process quality checks with micrometers and other precision measuring tools.
• Collaborating in a team environment with experienced tradespeople across machining, fabrication, fitting and plating.
• Take responsibility for maintaining and improving a safe working environment and following all policies, procedures and safe work instructions.
