The incumbent will be responsible for the effective and efficient coordination of multiple clinical trials within the Feto-maternal Unit at Liverpool Hospital, ensuring that all research activities are conducted in accordance with the approved protocol, relevant legislation, institutional policies, ethical requirements, and the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP). The role plays a key part in maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and integrity across all clinical trial activities.
In addition, the position will actively promote and facilitate participation in clinical trials and research to support the translation of evidence into clinical practice across multidisciplinary fields.
The role demands clinical skills such as vital signs, venepuncture, blood collection and processing, canulation, investigational product administration, ECG, CTG, ultrasound, and post birth follow up for neonates/infants while meticulously maintaining accurate logs of all clinical activities. The clinical trials midwife must be able to recognize and manage potential adverse events while ensuring their accurate recording. Furthermore, strong data management skills are required, including systematic data extraction from medical records, data collection via phone surveys and precise data entry into electronic case report forms and systems.

Currently more than 20 different clinical trials groups with a total of over 45 coordinators stretched across multiple different specialties. The majority of the groups have one or two clinical trials coordinators managing a significant clinical trials workload without any mechanism for leave relief by staff with appropriate competency.
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
Liverpool Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
