Job summary

Northern Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 for Northern Beaches Hospital to provide senior nursing leadership and develop specialist practice within a nursing unit.

The CNS will exercise extended autonomy, collaborating with managers and senior clinicians to improve patient outcomes. NSW Health supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement and a safe, inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Nurse Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) with relevant post-registration qualifications.
  • At least 3 years' experience in the clinical area of their postgraduate qualification.
  • Ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development.
  • Experience leading activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as Windows, word processing and database.

What You'll Be Doing

The purpose of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) position is to provide senior nursing clinical leadership in the development of specialist clinical practice and service delivery within a nursing unit, team or service. The CNS employs advanced clinical skills and exercises extended autonomy of decision making working closely with managers and other senior clinicians.

Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Nurse Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient clinical outcomes.
  • Demonstrated skills in computer use and applications such as Windows, word processing and database.
  • Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
