Job summary

NSW Health is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Grade 2 for Northern Beaches Hospital in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The role provides senior clinical leadership to develop specialist practice and service delivery within a nursing unit.

You will use advanced clinical skills with extended decision-making autonomy, collaborating closely with managers and other senior clinicians to improve patient outcomes and service quality.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Nursing Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) with relevant post-registration qualifications.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient outcomes.
• Demonstrated skills in computer use and applications such as Windows, word processing and database.
• Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

What you'll be doing
The purpose of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) position is to provide senior nursing clinical leadership in the development of specialist clinical practice and service delivery within a nursing unit, team or service. The CNS employs advanced clinical skills and exercises extended autonomy of decision making working closely with managers and other senior clinicians.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Nurse Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient clinical outcomes.
• Demonstrated skills in computer use and applications such as Windows, word processing and database.
• Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
