Murrumbidgee Local Health District in Canberra is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Integrated Alcohol & Other Drugs Service. You will lead advanced clinical care for clients with AOD needs across rural communities, working with a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes.

The role emphasizes clinical leadership, mentoring and evidence-based practices within community settings. The position offers flexible hours, hybrid arrangements, and a focus on person-centred, trauma-informed care

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration and postgraduate qualification in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) or related specialty.
• Experience managing complex AOD presentations and co-occurring health conditions.
• Strong communication and engagement across multidisciplinary teams and services.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical assessment, care planning and intervention for people with AOD and complex conditions.
• Deliver trauma-informed, person-centred care in community settings, including ambulatory withdrawal and targeted interventions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external services for coordinated pathways of care.
• Provide clinical leadership, mentoring and education to support colleagues and strengthen workforce capability.
• Contribute to quality improvement, governance and development of evidence-based AOD practice.
