Job summary

A leading health service provider in Nowra is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide expert neonatal care and clinical leadership within the Special Care Nursery. In this part-time temporary role, you will work closely with vulnerable patients and their families, mentor nursing staff, and drive quality improvement in a collaborative multidisciplinary team. Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District seeks a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 to play a pivotal leadership role within the Level 3 Special Care Nursery at Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital. This is a unique opportunity to provide advanced, family-centred neonatal care while exercising extended clinical autonomy, mentoring nursing staff, and driving evidence‑based practice, education and service development. Working across the Special Care Nursery and Paediatric Unit as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will support some of our most vulnerable patients and their families, contribute to quality improvement and strategic initiatives, and help shape the future of neonatal care in the Shoalhaven region.

A little about us.

Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital is the main referral hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high‑dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit, as well as a purpose‑built regional Cancer Care Centre and sub‑acute Mental Health Unit.

The hospital is currently undergoing a significant $440M redevelopment that will redefine how healthcare is delivered within the Region. Once complete in mid‑2026, the new seven‑storey Acute Services Building and refurbishments on the current hospital site will bring a focus on career development, allowing you to grow your career, acquire new skills and advance professionally as the hospital continues to develop.
