Job summary

Northern Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Eating Disorder Service in a permanent full-time role in NSW. The CNS will deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based nursing care to adults with eating disorders, using telehealth and in NSLHD services.

The CNS will provide leadership, supervision of junior clinicians, and support for families and carers to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care across inpatient, community, and primary care settings.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and relevant post-registration qualifications.
• At least three years' full-time equivalent clinical experience with adult eating disorders or equivalent.
• Advanced clinical knowledge in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders; familiarity with telehealth and group therapies.

• Offer clinical leadership, supervision, and support to less experienced clinicians across inpatient, community and primary care settings.

What You'll Be Doing

The Adult Eating Disorder Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) works as part of the NSLHD Virtual Eating Disorder Service to provide trauma informed, culturally responsive, evidenced based, direct nursing care and consultation to adult consumers (≥18 years) with an eating disorder and their families/carers, living in or admitted to NSLHD services. In particular, the CNS will utilise telehealth and virtual care models to provide a post discharge service to consumers and their families presenting to NSLHD services; support GPs and primary care clinicians in the screening, assessment and treatment of eating disorders; act as a liaison point for clinicians, consumers and their families/carers to navigate accessing appropriate care and provide a specialist nursing service to consumers within the NSLHD Eating Disorder Service. The CNS also provides clinical leadership, support and supervision of less experienced clinicians within NSLHD inpatient, community and primary care settings, to achieve high quality care across the eating disorder spectrum of care.

Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners' Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and relevant post-registration qualifications and at least three (3) years full time equivalent clinical experience working with adult consumers with Eating Disorders or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of people with feeding and eating disorders using evidenced based interventions. In particular, demonstrated knowledge of the use of CBT-E, Family Based Therapy, trauma informed care, telehealth and virtual models of care, and delivery of group therapies in treatment and meal support.
• Demonstrated ability to utilise advanced clinical reasoning, advocacy and care planning skills to provide and organise appropriate health care for adult consumers with eating disorders and their families/carers.
