Job summary

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service – Rockhampton QLD is seeking a Clinical Midwife to provide culturally safe, woman-centred antenatal care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families. You will coordinate care across Rockhampton, Emerald and Biloela Hospitals, supporting intrapartum services and continuity of care with a multidisciplinary team.

You are an experienced Registered Midwife, able to lead, precept and collaborate while upholding high professional standards

• Registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA and a current annual practising certificate are mandatory.
• Strong leadership and precepting capabilities to support colleagues and optimise maternity care.

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service – Rockhampton QLD

Rockhampton Hospital is the major referral hospital for Central Queensland, providing maternity care to women and families from Rockhampton and communities across the region, including women requiring more complex care.

A CSCF level 4 maternity service, the unit has 18 beds, five private birthing suites and a neonatal nursery to offer care across pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. The service includes Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) to support continuity of care and enable midwives to build strong, ongoing connections with women and families.

The maternity team also works closely with Gumma Gundoo, the local First Nations maternity service, to provide culturally appropriate care and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families.

About the role

As a Clinical Midwife, you'll use your advanced midwifery skills and experience to provide culturally safe, woman-centred care through an all-risk antenatal service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families, including women who identify their unborn child as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

You’ll support women throughout their pregnancy journey, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and maternity services across Rockhampton, Emerald and Biloela Hospitals. Intrapartum care will be provided by core maternity midwives, with the Clinical Midwife supporting antenatal care, pregnancy assessments, coordination and continuity of care to help achieve safe, positive outcomes for women, babies and families.

About you

You are an experienced Registered Midwife who brings advanced clinical skills, sound judgement and a strong commitment to culturally safe, person-centred maternity care. You'll be confident providing leadership, precepting and supporting colleagues, while contributing positively to professional midwifery practice.

You have the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care within complex clinical environments and use advanced problem-solving skills to coordinate high-quality care. Your strong communication, consultation and negotiation skills allow you to build trusted relationships with women, families, multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders. Registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA and a current annual practising certificate are mandatory.

What we offer

Total remuneration value of up to $139,931 p.a. is comprised of:

• An hourly rate between $57.76 - $61.85 p.h.
• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
• 17.5% leave loading
