Job summary

Metro North Health is seeking a Clinical Midwife to join the Midwives & Me Caseload on a permanent part-time basis. You will deliver expert midwifery services across the childbearing continuum within a woman-centred model of care, contributing to leadership, education, quality improvement and clinical excellence.

You will provide advanced clinical care, mentor staff and apply evidence-based practice to support positive outcomes for women, babies and families in a collaborative health care

Clinical Midwife - Midwives & Me Caseload

A permanent part-time opportunity to work within a collaborative, woman-centred model of care, delivering expert midwifery services across the childbearing continuum while contributing to leadership, education, quality improvement and clinical excellence.

About the role

As a Clinical Midwife, you will provide advanced clinical care and leadership to support positive outcomes for women, babies and families. Working autonomously and collaboratively, you will apply contemporary evidence-based practice and provide expert clinical judgement in both routine and complex maternity care situations. You will also play a key role in mentoring and supporting Registered Nurses, Midwives and other staff, while fostering a culture of continuous learning, safety and quality improvement.

• Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting midwifery practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
• Apply advanced clinical midwifery expertise, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, to deliver a high standard of woman and baby centred care.
• Respond appropriately to and provide support and direction to manage sudden alterations in the health status of the woman and baby using advanced midwifery assessment and intervention skills.
• Provide teaching to both woman and their families to facilitate learning and enable them to move towards independence.
• Support an evidence-based learning environment and participate in learning activities/opportunities for self and others.
