Clinical Manager - Perioperative Services

The Opportunity

An exceptional leadership opportunity has become available for a senior and strategic Perioperative Manager to lead our large, dynamic theatre complex. As a pivotal member of our hospital's leadership team, you will be responsible for the overall management and success of our comprehensive Perioperative Services.

This is a significant Level 3 management role, ideal for an experienced clinical leader looking to make a substantial impact on clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and team culture within a high-acuity environment.

The Department

You will be leading a multi‑faceted and modern Perioperative unit, which includes:

  • 4 state‑of‑the‑art Operating Theatres
  • A 17‑chair Day Surgery Unit (DSU)
  • A 12‑chair Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA) Unit
  • A 10‑bed Recovery Unit

Our unit is a centre of excellence, supporting a diverse and busy case‑mix of surgical specialities, including orthopaedics, general surgery, gastroenterology, ENT, ophthalmology, gynaecology, urology, plastics, and breast/endocrine surgery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across the entire Perioperative Services unit.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a large, multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of exceptional patient‑centred care.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and workforce planning to achieve key performance indicators.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, and patient satisfaction.
  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other key stakeholders.
Selection Criteria
  • Mandatory: Extensive previous management experience within a complex Perioperative environment.
  • Current and unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Proven success in operational management, including financial acumen, quality improvement, and strategic planning.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong understanding of clinical governance and ACORN standards.
  • Desirable: A tertiary qualification in Management, Business, Health Administration, or another appropriate discipline will be highly regarded.
