Job summary

Youturn invites applications for a Clinical Lead to provide clinical leadership and oversight across the headspace Port Augusta service and its outreach locations. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, evidence-informed and youth-friendly care, while maintaining a clinical caseload.

You will guide governance, risk management and quality frameworks, and collaborate with families, carers and community partners to improve outcomes for young people.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing with registration where applicable.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary clinical teams and coordinating youth mental health services.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment, crisis response and evidence-informed practice.
• Experience working in rural or regional youth mental health settings is desirable.

As Youturn prepares to become the Lead Agency for headspace Port Augusta, we're seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Lead to provide clinical leadership and oversight across the established service and its outreach locations in Oodnadatta, Marree, Leigh Creek, Hawker, Yalata and Quorn.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting new chapter for the service while building on the strong relationships, trusted reputation and foundations already established within the community.

Working alongside the Centre Manager, a multidisciplinary team, consortium partners, local providers and the broader community, you'll play a critical role in ensuring young people receive safe, evidence-informed, youth-friendly and culturally responsive care when they need it most.

About the Opportunity

As Clinical Lead, you'll provide clinical leadership, guidance and oversight across the service, supporting clinicians and partner providers to deliver high-quality care that aligns with the headspace model.

You will be responsible for ensuring strong clinical governance, supporting risk management and clinical decision-making, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a culture of collaboration, learning and continuous improvement.

Importantly, this role is not solely about leadership.

You'll remain connected to the purpose of the work through direct service delivery, maintaining a clinical caseload and supporting young people experiencing a range of mental health, wellbeing and psychosocial challenges.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a clinician who leads with both expertise and empathy.

Someone who can provide strong clinical direction while fostering genuine relationships with young people, families, colleagues and community partners.

Essential Qualifications

You will hold:

• Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing, or another discipline recognised by headspace as an appropriately qualified mental health clinician.
• Current professional registration, accreditation or membership relevant to your discipline, including AHPRA registration or AASW membership/eligibility where applicable.
• Current South Australian Working with Children Check (or the ability to obtain).
• Current Open Driver Licence.

Essential Skills & Experience

You'll bring demonstrated experience and capability in:

• Youth mental health assessment, intervention and care planning.
• Delivery of evidence-based therapeutic interventions for young people
• Clinical leadership, supervision and support of multidisciplinary teams.
• Clinical risk assessment, suicide risk management and crisis response.
• Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) assessment, harm minimisation and integrated treatment approaches.
• Conducting comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and developing treatment plans.
• Working collaboratively with families, carers and kin to support positive outcomes.
• Building effective relationships with community services, health providers and key stakeholders.
• Clinical governance, quality improvement and evidence-informed practice.

You'll Stand Out If You Have

• Experience supporting young people in rural, regional or remote communities.
• Knowledge of local mental health, health and community service systems.
• Experience working within the headspace model or similar youth mental health environments.
• A strong understanding of social and emotional wellbeing approaches for First Nations young people and communities.
