Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Clinical Chemistry Department at Liverpool Clinical Laboratories. You will support Biomedical Scientists and other healthcare professionals, handling specimens for routine and specialist testing and helping maintain equipment to ensure high-quality laboratory services for patient care.

Qualifications

• Develop the knowledge and skills required for the preparation of specimens for processing within departmental scope of practice and SOPs.
• Adhere to Health and Safety policies and applicable regulations.
• Undertake maintenance, calibration, control and operation of routine and specialised equipment.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and quality management systems.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process specimens for routine and specialist testing.
• Maintain analytical equipment in optimum condition.
• Participate in 24/7 shift work across all LCL sites as directed.
• Liaise with scientific and clinical staff within the LCL and across the Trust.
• Assist with stock control and ordering of supplies as required.
• Record incidents and non-conformities in line with procedures.
• Support supervision, teaching, and advising of other staff.
