Job summary

Mitchelton Special School in Brisbane is seeking a reliable Cleaner to contribute to a safe, clean learning environment across classrooms, facilities and outdoor areas. You will join a small cleaning team and work under the supervision of the Business Manager.

Responsibilities include cleaning high-touch surfaces, toilets, floors, outdoor areas, and reporting safety concerns. The role offers the chance to support students, families and staff in a community focused on learning and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning windows, glass surfaces, doorknobs, taps, sinks, and other high-touch areas.
• Cleaning and sanitising toilets, and other hygiene-sensitive areas.
• Sweeping, vacuuming, and general cleaning of classrooms, offices, and communal spaces.
• Floor maintenance including mopping, buffing, stripping, and polishing of vinyl.
• Cleaning outdoor areas including paved surfaces, concrete, and surrounding school grounds.
• Removing rubbish, litter, and debris, including clearing drains and gutters as required.
• Dusting furniture, equipment, blinds, and fans in student and staff areas.
• Assisting with cobweb and mildew removal using appropriate equipment.
• Reporting maintenance, safety, or security concerns to the Business Manager or delegated staff.
• Locking and unlocking buildings and activating/deactivating security systems as required.
• Undertaking other cleaning duties as directed by the Principal, Business Manager, or nominated delegate.

About us:Mitchelton Special School is a small school with just over 80 students. We provide educational programs for students from Prep to year 12, with an Intellectual Disability.Mitchelton Special School has an Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP) which is co-located on the Junior campus of the school.
