Job summary

Wayne Central School District is seeking a Maintenance/Custodial/Cleaner for a probationary 12-month role at a Middle School. Duties include dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and assisting in general cleanup of the school, grounds, and parking areas.

The position requires neat appearance, punctuality, and the ability to lift heavy loads as needed. Candidates should have a valid driver’s license and be able to work a 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM schedule immediately upon hire.

Qualifications

• Neat, clean appearance and punctuality.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to follow simple oral and written directions, and to cooperate with staff.

Responsibilities

• Dust, polish furniture, sweep, mop, vacuum, and dispose of refuse; assist in cleaning the school, grounds and parking lots.

Requirements:

Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and /or move more than 100 lbs. Frequently required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to get along well with others; ability to read and write; thoroughness; cleanliness; good physical condition.
