Job summary

TAL Australia, a leading life insurer backed by over 150 years in Australia, is hiring a Claims Consultant for our Direct Claims team in Melbourne. You will manage life insurance claims from start to finish, ensuring a seamless experience for customers and trusted advisers.

In this role you will independently handle a portfolio of Direct claims, communicate regularly on claim status, collaborate with medical and legal specialists, and uphold our commitment to quality outcomes and exceptional

Qualifications

• Life insurance claims management experience within Group/Direct policy within Life Insurance.
• Workers Compensation or Return to Work claims management experience with an Allied Health and Legal background.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving & time-management skills.
• Excellent communication & empathy to support customers during challenging times.
• Solid understanding of injuries, illnesses and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Provide best-in-class customer and client experience with regular communications regarding claim status and expectations.
• Independently manage a portfolio of Direct claims end-to-end.
• Assess, analyse, calculate and finalise claims payments.
• Engage with external treating doctors, rehabilitation consultants and in-house medical/legal specialists to deliver timely outcomes.
• Deliver exceptional customer service in line with policy and procedures.
• Participate in case conferences, peer discussions, and coordinate with third-party service providers.

Job Description

As a Claims Consultant within our Direct Claims team, you will manage life insurance claims from start to finish, providing a seamless experience for our customers.

In This Role You Will

• A key focus of this role involves providing a best-in-class customer and client (e.g. advisers, trustees, fund administrators) experience, including regular communication in relation to the status of claims and managing expectations, to deliver on quality health and claim outcomes.
• Independently managing a portfolio of Direct claims end-to-end
• Assess, analyse, calculate and finalise claims payments
• Active engagement of external treating doctors, rehabilitation consultants as well as in house medical and legal specialists and delivering timely outcomes for our customer
• Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with our philosophy, policy and claims procedures
• Participate in case conferences, peer case discussions, and instructing third party service providers
