Job summary
GPA Engineering in Adelaide seeks a Civil/Structural Drafter with 3–10 years of experience to join the team at the head office. You will deliver high-quality 2D drawings and 3D models across oil & gas, mining, water and power projects.
Based in Adelaide, you will work with engineers and designers, progressing drawings from concept through detailed design while adhering to Australian standards and GPA drafting guidelines. Hybrid work options are available.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering (Design Drafting) or equivalent.
- Advanced Diploma or equivalent drafting/design qualification.
- 3–10 years of civil/structural drafting experience in heavy industry sectors.
- Strong 2D drafting capability and 3D modelling experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise and maintain civil/structural drawings and 3D models.
- Produce high-quality 2D deliverables: general arrangements, plans, elevations and sections.
- Develop 3D models to support multidisciplinary project delivery.
- Coordinate with engineers/designers to convert concepts into design documents.
- Interpret standards, specifications and GPA drafting standards.

With a strong pipeline of projects across the energy, resources and industrial sectors, GPA Engineering is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Drafter to join our Adelaide team.
Based in our Adelaide Head Office, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering projects across oil & gas, mining, materials handling, water and power. This role is suited to someone with 3-10 years' experience who enjoys variety, technical challenges and developing high-quality 2D drawings and 3D models.
Working closely with engineers and designers, you'll contribute to projects from concept through to detailed design, gaining exposure to a broad range of clients and industries. You'll have the opportunity to further develop your drafting and modelling skills while taking increasing ownership of design documentation and model coordination.
- Prepare, revise and maintain civil and structural engineering drawings and 3D models across a range of projects.
- Produce high-quality 2D deliverables including general arrangements, plans, elevations, sections and construction details.
- Develop and maintain 3D models to support coordinated multidisciplinary project delivery.
- Work closely with engineers and designers to translate engineering concepts and calculations into clear and practical design documentation.
- Apply relevant Australian Standards, client specifications, project requirements and GPA drafting standards.
- Participate in drawing and model reviews and incorporate design changes and review comments.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to identify and resolve design interfaces and clashes.
- Manage assigned drafting activities to meet project schedules and agreed deliverables.
- Ensure drawings, models and associated documentation comply with GPA quality assurance requirements.
We are looking for a collaborative and technically capable Civil/Structural Drafter with strong attention to detail and a practical approach to engineering documentation.
- Qualifications: An Associate Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering (Design Drafting), Advanced Diploma or equivalent recognised drafting/design qualification, either completed or currently being undertaken.
- Experience: Approximately 3–10 years of relevant civil and/or structural drafting and design experience earthworks.
- Industry Experience: Experience in heavy industry sectors such as oil & gas, mining, materials handling, water or power will be highly regarded.
- 2D Drafting: Strong capability in producing engineering drawings including general arrangements, plans, elevations, sections and construction details.
- 3D Modelling: Experience developing and working with 3D models as part of coordinated engineering project delivery.
- Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. Experience with Civil 3D, Advance Steel, Revit or other relevant design and modelling software would be advantageous.
- Technical Understanding: Ability to interpret engineering mark-ups, design information, relevant Australian Standards and client specifications.
- Quality: Strong attention to detail and an understanding of engineering drawing standards, document control and QA processes.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary project teams.
A requirement for this role is to complete a satisfactory pre-employment medical check and Australian police clearance.
