Job summary

City of Moreton Bay invites applications for a Labourer in the Roads and Drains team in Narangba. This hands-on role supports both planned and reactive maintenance across the road and drainage network, under supervision of a Crew Leader.

You will help keep our civil infrastructure safe and functional while gaining practical on-site experience. Role offers full-time hours over 4 days (Tuesday to Friday, 6:00am–4:00pm) with a 12-month trial.

Qualifications

• Experience performing labouring tasks on civil infrastructure projects.
• Ability to work safely with manual tasks and heavy equipment.
• Proven team player with good communication in a field environment.

Responsibilities

• Pathway and footpath repairs and replacements, including concrete areas.
• Kerb and channel repairs, including lintels and stormwater grates.
• Replacing and maintaining manholes, covers, pits and catch pits.
• Stormwater network maintenance, including pipes, headwalls and open drains.
• Clearing and maintaining open drains and drainage infrastructure.
• Installing, repairing and replacing road signs.
• Repairing traffic islands and associated defects.

• This team currently works full time hours over 4 days/week - Tuesday to Friday 6:00am to 4:00pm. 12 month trial.
• $74,199 pa (ie. $37.55/hour) - incl. industry and uniform allowance + 12% super (level 3)
• Location: Narangba

Join our Roads and Drains team as a Labourer and play a vital role in maintaining the community's civil infrastructure. Working alongside an experienced Crew Leader, you’ll play a key role in maintaining Council’s assets.

Your primary responsibility will be to help ensure your designated area remains safe, tidy and fit for purpose, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance activities across the road and drainage network.

Some of the tasks include:

• pathway and footpath repairs and replacements, including concrete areas
• kerb and channel repairs, including lintels and stormwater grates
• replacing and maintaining manholes, covers, pits and catch pits
• undertaking stormwater network maintenance, including pipes, headwalls and open drains
• clearing and maintaining open drains and drainage infrastructure
• installing, repairing and replacing road signs
• repairing traffic islands and associated defects

Your work will directly contribute to the upkeep of Council’s civil infrastructure, making a tangible difference to community safety, accessibility and appearance. This hands on role offers variety, outdoor work and the satisfaction of seeing immediate results from your efforts.

About you

Ideally you'll have recent experience performing labouring tasks related to maintaining or constructing infrastructure similar to those listed above. We’re looking for applicants who demonstrate:

• knowledge and physical capability to perform manual tasks safely
• recent experience in a manual or labour intensive role
• experience working on civil infrastructure
• good communication skills and a team oriented mindset

In addition to these skills and experience, successful candidates must possess:

• a current truck licence (minimum MR - Medium Rigid)
• Construction Induction Card (or be willing to obtain prior to commencement)
