Job summary

Yancoal Australia is seeking a qualified Process/Metallurgical Engineer for a CHPP-focused role in NSW. You will monitor coal preparation, optimize circuit performance and drive process improvements within a safety-first team.

The position requires 5+ years experience in CHPP/coal processing, strong data analysis and excellent communication. Collaboration across multidisciplinary teams is essential, with a focus on quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or higher qualification in a process/chemical/metallurgical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years in a CHPP/coal processing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to improve processing and quality/spec targets.
• Strong data interpretation and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe work environment and promote safe behaviours.
• Monitor coal preparation and sampling to meet quality specs.
• Optimise consumption and circuit performance in CHPP.
• Lead process improvement projects and document reports.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Coal Quality & Logistics Superintendent, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The role will require you to:

• Ensure a safe work environment is maintained through demonstrated commitment to safe behaviours.
• Monitor and improve coal preparation and coal sampling to ensure quality specifications and recovery targets are met.
• Optimise the use of consumables used in coal processing.
• Maximise operational availability and CHPP throughput by optimising circuit performance.
• Develop and implement process improvement projects.
• Complete both routine and project reports.
• Conduct sampling and organise analysis.

Skills and Experience

• Tertiary qualification in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering (or similar).
• Strong CHPP operational and technical experience.
• Relevant experience in a similar role (minimum 5 years).
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to source and analyse data to facilitate management decision making.
• High attention to detail.
• Strong report writing skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• LIMN modelling skills will be highly regarded.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Radiation Safety Officer Certification (desirable)
• Sound knowledge in SPIRE or similar MES (desirable)
