Job Overview

Translation Editors (Chinese-English) – Central Compilation and Translation Bureau – Beijing, China.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the translation team, you will work on the official English translations of central government documents, including the premier’s annual government work report, national policy documents, and the works of Chinese leaders. Your main role is to revise and polish translations to ensure accuracy and readability, leveraging your strong understanding of the English language.

You Will Be
  • Speaking English at an idiomatic level with excellent writing skills
  • Under 60 years old
You Will Have
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in China studies, international relations, or journalism
  • Good proficiency in Chinese (especially reading)
  • At least two years of work experience in translation or editing
  • A good knowledge of contemporary China
Salary and Benefits

Salary: A minimum of 20,000 RMB per month.

Accommodation: Option of a heavily‑subsidized and fully furnished apartment in the heart of Beijing (Xidan), a 15‑minute walk from work.

Housing Allowance: If you opt to your own housing, you will receive 36,000 RMB per year as a housing allowance on top of your salary.

Insurance: The Bureau offers social insurance (basic health care state pension) to all full‑time employees.

Paid Leave: Full‑time foreign employees under a one‑year contract are entitled to 15 days of paid leave after their first six months.
