Job summary

Austin Group is seeking an exceptional Chief Technology Officer to lead technology, data and AI strategy for a transformative, AI-enabled apparel business in Australia. You will own the technology landscape, data foundations and governance, while building an in-house AI engineering capability and guiding significant investments.

Reporting to the CEO and joining the Executive Team, you will partner with leaders across pricing, CRM, eCommerce and operations to deliver measurable business outcomes

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification and strong technical expertise.
• At least seven years’ experience leading technology, engineering, data or digital functions within retail, consumer goods or a similarly complex business.
• Demonstrated success delivering AI, machine learning, ERP, CRM, eCommerce, data or broader technology transformation initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise AI platforms, frontier models, agentic frameworks and emerging technologies.
• Experience managing technology vendors, strategic partnerships and significant investment decisions.
• A sound understanding of cyber security, privacy, data governance and technology risk.
• Proven success building high-performing teams and lifting technology and AI capability across an organisation.
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to turn complex technical concepts into practical commercial outcomes.
• A commercially astute, curious and results-focused leadership style.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver the Group’s technology, data and AI strategy and roadmap.
• Establish the architecture, platforms and data foundations required to support growth, Customer 360 and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Build and lead an in-house AI engineering capability, delivering automation and AI products with measurable business outcomes.
• Partner with leaders to identify and embed AI opportunities across pricing, inventory, CRM, marketing, eCommerce and operations.
• Lead the Group’s data, integration and governance strategy.
• Oversee core technology platforms, vendors, strategic partnerships and investment decisions.
• Lead cyber security, privacy, technology risk, business continuity and disaster recovery.
• Build a high-performing Technology and AI team and strengthen AI capability across the wider business.

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead this agenda and help shape the future of our business.

Reporting directly to the CEO and joining the Executive Team, you will own the Group’s technology, data and AI strategy. You will ensure our technology environment remains secure, resilient and high-performing while building the platforms, data foundations and internal capabilities required to create an AI-enabled organisation.
