Job summary

MatchaTalent is seeking a Head of Procurement for a Brisbane-based mining client with regular travel to Papua New Guinea. The role will build and lead the end-to-end procurement function across Australia and PNG, establishing governance, sourcing strategies, and supplier partnerships to ensure uninterrupted material supply for exploration and mining operations.

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years in procurement, supply chain or strategic sourcing roles.
Minimum 3–5 years in senior procurement leadership within mining or heavy resources industries.
Experience building procurement organisations and governance frameworks.
Strong experience with multi-currency transactions (AUD, PGK, USD).

Responsibilities

Develop and lead end-to-end procurement strategy for Australia and PNG.
Negotiate and manage strategic supplier relationships and contracts.
Establish procurement governance, SOPs, and delegated authority frameworks.
Lead cross-functional teams and drive cost optimization and supplier performance.
