Oaks Cairns Hotel is seeking a skilled Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team on a casual basis. You will help prepare and cook meals to the highest standard, following recipes and ensuring consistency across services.

You’ll collaborate with a busy team, plate dishes to brand standards, and assist with rosters, stock control, and hygiene. A Certificate III in Cookery and passion for cooking are essential.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Cookery qualification.
• Experience in a hotel or restaurant environment.
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude and a genuine passion for cooking.
• Flexibility to work across breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and cooking meals to the highest standard, following recipes and maintaining consistency.
• Collaborate with and support fellow kitchen team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Plate and present dishes to brand standards and maintain cleanliness/hygiene.
• Assist with back-of-house rosters and stock control.
• Oversee safe storage of food and kitchen supplies.
• Contribute to development of new menu items with the Head Chef.

Oaks Cairns Hotel are looking for a skilled and reliable Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team on a casual basis.

This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene are consistently maintained.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Assist in preparing and cooking meals to the highest standard, following recipes and maintaining consistency.
• Collaborate with and support fellow kitchen team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Take pride in plating and presenting beautifully crafted dishes, ensuring they are served to brand standards.
• Assist the Chef in Charge with preparing back-of-house rosters.
• Oversee stock control and ensure the safe and proper storage of food and kitchen supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen areas, including equipment and storage.
• Contribute to the development of new menu items in partnership with the Head Chef.

Shift Details (subject to change):

• Rotating roster across Monday to Sunday
• Shifts may include breakfast, lunch, and dinner services
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays

Hourly Rates (excluding superannuation):
Monday - Friday: $40.16 per hour
Saturday: $48.20 per hour
Sunday: $56.23 per hour

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need to:

• Certificate III in Cookery qualification.
• Previous experience in a similar role within a hotel or restaurant environment.
• Strong knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine passion for cooking.
• Flexibility to work across all service periods as per the roster: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
