Job summary

Norwest Private Hospital in Sydney's North West region is hiring a Chef for the Catering Department to prepare patient meals, follow recipes and dietary requirements, and maintain kitchen hygiene.

You will work across a 7-day roster, require Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and HACCP knowledge, and you'll be supported with education, development, and career progression within Healthscope.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
• Minimum two years' experience as a Chef.
• Strong HACCP knowledge and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and items per approved recipes and dietary requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in kitchen areas and equipment.
• Monitor stock levels and record fridge/freezer temperatures.
• Comply with Food Safety Program and liaise with management and staff.
• Lead, coach and support team members to deliver exceptional service.

About the Role

As a Chef, you will be responsible for:

• Preparing meals and food items in accordance with approved recipes and dietary requirements
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within food preparation areas and kitchen equipment
• Monitoring and maintaining food stock levels
• Recording and maintaining refrigerator and freezer temperatures in line with food safety standards
• Implementing and complying with the Food Safety Program
• Liaising effectively with management and hospital staff
• Leading, coaching and supporting team members to deliver exceptional service

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Minimum two years' experience working as a Chef
• Strong knowledge and understanding of HACCP principles and food safety standards
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Availability to work across a 7-day roster, including weekends
• Experience in a hospital, aged care or hotel food service environment (desirable)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A commitment to delivering high-quality food and exceptional customer service
