As a Christian organisation, with a heritage of service spanning 160 years, we serve older people and those who are vulnerable or marginalised by providing a range of accommodation, care and community services.
Eileen Armstrong House is a residential care home located in Woonona on the Illawarra South Coast. Set in a peaceful country environment, it has accommodation for 60 residents in a mixture of private and shared rooms on a single level. Residents gather for activities including Chapel and Bible Study weekly in common spaces around the home.
Chaplaincy is a vital and expanding part of Anglicare, which demands intentionally evangelistic and pastorally orientated ministry.
The purpose of the Chaplain is to provide spiritual leadership in the home, and to provide emotional support to the home’s community, firstly to residents of the Home, as well as their families and the staff.
In the role ofChaplain, you will be based on site at the home alongside the Pastoral Carers to form the Pastoral Care Team of the home.
A healthy and thriving Chaplaincy ministry in the home is achieved through developing individual relationships with each resident and providing support according to their needs and preferences, while building trust and rapport with Home Management and staff.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake or provide clearances for the following Checks: a Police Check, NDIS Check, Working With Children Check, qualifications and referee checks, along with a record of Covid vaccination boosters.
To be successful in this opportunity, you will be an active and keen Christian with formal theological qualifications coupled ideally with experience in pastoral care of seniors. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine pastoral difference in the lives of our residents.
Anglicare’s mission is to see Jesus Christ honoured, lives enriched and communities strengthened. Anglicare is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, the elderly and vulnerable, and has zero tolerance of bullying and abuse.
