ALH Hotels is seeking an experienced Category Manager - Range | Beverages to lead a commercial, customer-led beverage range strategy across our 350+ venues.

You will work with Hospitality Operations, Marketing, Executive Chefs, and trading partners to optimise venue ranges, negotiate supplier terms, and drive margins. The role also involves renewal venues, insights leadership, and developing a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years driving beverage strategy or category management in multisite hospitality.
• Proven track record of managing P&L, margins, and supplier negotiations.
• Strong data analysis and ability to present insights to executives.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across matrix organisations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies to drive beverage trend leadership.
• Lead biannual range reviews and negotiate supplier terms.
• Analyse sales data and guest behavior to inform range decisions.
• Coordinate beverage and food strategy with Executive Chefs and food team.
• Design beverage lists for renewal venues with Hospitality Operations.
• Develop and mentor ACM Range to build commercial accountability.

As the Category Manager - Range | Beverages you will lead and develop a commercial, customer-led beverage range strategy across our ALH Hotels network.

Working collaboratively with Hospitality Operations, Marketing, Executive Chefs, and our trading partners, you will optimise venue-specific ranges, negotiate high-value supplier agreements, and drive the bottom line across our portfolio.

You will also lead rigorous seasonal range reviews, engineer beverage offerings for major refurbishments, and develop a high-performing, commercially astute team.

Here’s a taste of the responsibilities:

• Category Strategy & Margin Management: Develop, embed, and execute comprehensive category and segmentation strategies to drive trend leadership, innovation, and differentiation across our beverage offer.
• Range Optimisation & Reviews: Lead robust, data-backed biannual range reviews. Negotiate commercial terms, pouring agreements, and preferred supplier programs that drive guest experience and commercial success.
• Insights Leadership: Partnering with suppliers and retail insights teams to analyse sales data, guest behavior and market trends to inform range decisions.
• Food & Beverage Alignment: Collaborate closely with Executive Chefs and the food team to integrate beverage and food category strategies for a unified F&B guest experience.
• Renewal Venues: Design and embed tailored beverage lists for renewal venues in partnership with the Hospitality Operations and the Renewals team.
• Leadership & Talent Development: Lead, inspire, and develop direct reports (ACM Range), fostering a culture of commercial accountability and on-premise excellence.

What do we need from you

Now let’s talk about you:

• Experience: 5+ years driving beverage strategy or category management, preferably within large-scale, multisite hospitality groups.
• Commercial Rigor: A proven track record of managing complex P&Ls, driving margin optimisation, and executing high-stakes supplier negotiations.
• Data Translation & Storytelling: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn raw venue data into revenue-generating range decisions. You must be capable of building compelling presentations to clearly communicate the “why” behind your strategies to executive and operational stakeholders.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
• Stakeholder Management & Leadership: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with proven success building relationships across complex matrix organisations and inspiring high-performing teams.
• Desirable Extras: Hands-on experience querying databases using SQL and/or working within Google Cloud Platform environments to extract and analyse commercial insights.
