Mater Central Queensland - Rockhampton is seeking a Category & Contracts Specialist – Medical & Surgical to drive value for money across procurement activities. Based in Newstead, you’ll join the centre-led Category & Contract Management team, developing category strategies and managing supplier relationships across a diverse Medical & Surgical portfolio.

About the role

Join Mater as a Category & Contract Specialist – Medical & Surgical and help drive value for money across Mater’s procurement activities.

Based in Newstead, you’ll work as part of our centre-led Category & Contract Management team, developing category strategies, leading sourcing activities and managing key supplier relationships across a diverse Medical & Surgical portfolio.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to work on complex and high-value procurement activities while partnering with stakeholders across a large and diverse healthcare organisation.

This is a full-time, 6 month, maximum-term contract opportunity with the potential to transition to a permanent position.

Salary range: $54.57- $59.38 per hourplus superannuationandaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff benefits!

What you'll be doing

• Drive strategic sourcing initiatives, including panel establishment, aggregation, and standardisation.

About you

You’re an experienced procurement professional with strong category and contract management skills and a commercial mindset.

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience managing categories of spend within a large, complex organisation.
• Experience leading high‑complexity and high‑value end‑to‑end procurement activities.
• Strong experience across category management, sourcing strategies, tenders and contract management.
• Proven ability to identify opportunities and deliver value from procurement spend.
• Strong stakeholder, negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Experience managing complex supplier and customer issues.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
• A relevant procurement or business qualification or certification will be highly regarded.
