Job summary

WesTrac is seeking a Plant Mechanic to join the New Machines Construction team in Perth. This workshop-based role offers variety, ongoing technical development and a long-term career with one of the world’s leading Caterpillar dealerships.

You will work on CAT construction equipment, complete dealer-installed options and warranty repairs, with a strong safety focus and access to WesTrac Institute training.

Qualifications

• Post-trade experience on CAT construction equipment is required.
• Australian-recognised heavy vehicle trade certificate is required.
• Experience on BCP machinery range is ideal.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and diagrams.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
• Commitment to safety, quality workmanship and customer service.
• Alignment with WesTrac's SPARC Values.

Responsibilities

• Complete dealer-installed options and customer-requested modifications on CAT equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
• Carry out warranty repairs and product improvement programs.
• Conduct machine testing, calibrations and pre-delivery inspections.
• Complete service reports and maintain documentation.
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
