Job summary

Munich Re in Sydney seeks a Casualty Treaty Underwriter with 3–5 years of underwriting experience in casualty treaty. The role covers end-to-end underwriting, pricing and client relationship management in a dynamic reinsurance environment.

You will contribute to product innovation, identify market weaknesses, and ensure data quality across underwriting platforms while collaborating with global experts.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of underwriting experience in casualty treaty preferred.
• If not casualty treaty RI-UW experience, 3–5 years in primary market underwriting focusing on liability risks, plus RI treaty knowledge.
• Strong analytical skill set.
• Good interpersonal and effective organisational skills.
• ANZIIF membership (preferred) or equivalent.
• Tertiary qualification in legal studies (preferred) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Apply strong underwriting knowledge to assess risks and pricing.
• Handle underwriting activities across the end-to-end process.
• Strengthen client relationships and develop new ones to drive growth and profit.
• Support new business opportunities by understanding client needs and translating risk into value.
• Support product innovation and enhancements within the MR Group and with clients.
• Identify market weaknesses and provide solutions.
• Ensure data quality in underwriting platforms for reporting and monitoring.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the underwriting approach.
• Perform internal controls effectively, efficiently and economically.
• Develop and maintain market profile and visibility.
