Job summary

Brighton Primary School, part of the Victorian Government, is seeking a Learning Support role to assist with IEPs, SSGs and targeted literacy/numeracy interventions. The role supports classroom teachers, Learning Enhancement staff and families to ensure every student receives appropriate adjustments and inclusive learning opportunities.

Based in Melbourne’s Bayside area, the school offers specialist spaces and a strong community focus.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individual education plans (IEPs), SSGs, and adjustments for students requiring additional support.
• Experience delivering targeted literacy and numeracy intervention and extension aligned with school pedagogy.
• Ability to monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to teachers and learning enhancement staff.
• Ability to foster inclusive, calm, safe learning environments and support wellbeing and positive behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and Learning Enhancement staff to support IEPs, SSGs, and adjustments for students requiring additional support.
• Provide small group or individual support to students to reinforce learning, following teacher direction and intervention programs.
• Support targeted literacy and numeracy intervention and extension aligned with the school's approach to teaching and learning.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and the Learning Enhancement Team.
• Assist in preparing learning materials, visual supports, and differentiated resources.
• Foster student independence, confidence, and engagement through positive reinforcement and structured support.
• Support communication and collaboration between classroom teachers, parents, and specialist staff.
• Contribute to an inclusive, calm, and safe learning environment that promotes wellbeing and positive behaviour.
• Provide personal care and health support when required, following appropriate training and protocols.
