Job summary

Silkari Mirage at Newport, part of Silkari Hotels, seeks a Casual Chef to support the Head Chef during peak periods, events and weekend shifts. You will adapt to the menu, maintain high standards of quality and hygiene, and work in a boutique venue on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

You will join a kitchen that values reliability, teamwork, and safety, with opportunities to handle a range of dishes and collaborate across a small but busy team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is highly regarded but not mandatory if experienced.
• Valid Food Handling / Food Safety Certificate.
• Strong knowledge of kitchen safety regulations and HACCP principles.
• Fully available for weekend, evening, and public holiday shifts.
• Excellent communication and a team-player mentality.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting up to 25kg safely.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to venue recipes and standards.
• Manage a specific kitchen section independently during service.
• Complete daily prep lists (mise en place) efficiently.
• Maintain strict food safety, sanitation, and allergen control procedures.
• Assist with receiving stock, rotating inventory and minimising wastage.
• Maintain a clean and organised workstation throughout the shift and complete deep-cleaning tasks at close.
